A Diary of Small Things

In everyone's life, even in the darkest places, there is something that brings them happiness. My name is Cliff Cumber, and this is my attempt to find those moments and catalog them day-by-day with a photo, a drawing, a line or two.

If you feel inspired, I hope you'll join me. One moment of joy, every day.

I have terrible handwriting. That’s because of years as a reporter, taking hasty notes.

Maybe that’s why I prefer a fountain pen. It forces me to go a little slower, write more carefully. I went to a private school that required each student to use fountain pens; no roller balls, no ballpoints, no pencils.

Far from hating it, I loved it. The smooth flow of the ink, the cartridges, the nib’s interaction with the paper.

Good fountain pens have become difficult to find these days. But when I was promoted at work, I treated myself to this Waterman. Slightly pricey, but well worth it. Of all the fountain pens I’ve had over the years, this is one of the best.
